The porous burner (1) has a mixing space (3) for mixing a reducing agent and an oxidizing agent, an adjoining combustion space (4) filled with porous material (I), and a flame barrier (2) having holes arranged between mixing space and combustion space. The flame barrier contains a porous material (II) having porosity of less than 60% and density of more than 1300 kg/m3. An independent claim is included for burning method.
