Reproduction-oriented fault documentation method in motor vehicle, involves detection of error conditions and emitting of fault messages by many control units whereby vehicle position data and the fault description are assignable
Method involves detection of the error conditions and emitting of the error messages by many control units (6). The vehicle has a central position observation unit (1) which detects position variables during the vehicle operation and stores a vehicle position data (5a), for a time interval of defined length reaching up to current time, in a central past events memory (2). The vehicle position is detected by control unit and an error message is emitted. The fault description and time-stamp and, if necessary, data regarding the fault type is provided to the originator. The fault description and the read-out vehicle position data are transferred to a central fault memory in which the data is so filed that the vehicle position data and the fault description are assignable.
