Control system for common rail type fuel injection equipment for IC engine, uses criterion function, correlating fuel flow rate and fuel output quantity, to reduce difference between criterion and actual values of fuel flow rates
A control system e.g. an electronic control unit (ECU) (3) initially stores a criterion function correlating the fuel flow rate and fuel output quantity of a suction control valve at a fuel pump (4). To achieve a target pressure for a common rail (1), the actual output values of the fuel output quantity, corresponding to the actual values of the fuel flow rate, are first acquired to calculate the criterion values of the fuel flow rate. The criterion function is then used to correct or reduce the difference between actual and criterion values of the fuel flow rate.
