The system provides self-aligning torque whose magnitude is varied according to a moment provided by a driver. The magnitude of the torque is independent of a deviation between a measured and model based yaw rate and lateral acceleration or is independent of another magnitude comparable with the former magnitude, such that a high self aligning torque or a hand moment is obtained.
