Functional clustering for nucleic acids involves assigning part of biological functions to first nucleic acids of cluster after linking set of biological functions with biological data associated with first nucleic acids of cluster
A method of analyzing a set of first nucleic acids that can interact with a target portion of respective target nucleic acids to identify a cluster of the first nucleic acids that potentially cooperate with one another so as to affect biological functions comprises creating a correlation matrix indicating whether each identified biological data are associated with each of the first nucleic acids. A distance matrix is created based on the correlation matrix. The first nucleic acids are clustered based on the distance matrix. A set of biological functions is linked with biological data associated with the first nucleic acids of the cluster. A portion of the biological functions is assigned to the first nucleic acids of the cluster. A method of analyzing a set of first nucleic acids that can interact with at least one target portion of respective target nucleic acids to identify a cluster of the first nucleic acids that potentially cooperate with one another so as to affect biological functions, the method comprising: for each of the first nucleic acids, determining whether that first nucleic acid respectively interacts with each of the target nucleic acids, where the first nucleic acids and the target nucleic acids are from different nucleic acid families; for each interaction, identifying one or more biological data that are linked to the target nucleic acid of that interaction; for each of the first nucleic acids, associating, with that first nucleic acid, at least a portion of the biological data linked to the target nucleic acids with which that first nucleic acid interacts; a correlation matrix indicating whether each identified biological data are associated with each of the first nucleic acids is created. A distance matrix defining a distance between each pair of the first nucleic acids is created based on the correlation matrix. The first nucleic acids are clustered based on the distance matrix. A set of biological functions is linked with biological data associated with the first nucleic acids of the cluster. A portion of the biological functions is assigned to the first nucleic acids of the cluster. The method starts with determining if each of the first nucleic acids interacts with respective target nucleic acids. The first and target nucleic acids are from different nucleic acid families. Biological data linked to a target nucleic acid in which interaction with a first nucleic acid had occurred are identified. At least part of the biological data is associated with the first nucleic acid with which the target nucleic acid had interacted. An independent claim is included for a computer program product.
