FILTER MATERIAL COMPRISING AMINO-MODIFIED SILICA GEL AND CIGARETTE FILTER USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a useful cigarette filter which can hold smoking flavor ingredients, such as nicotine and tar, can selectively efficiently remove formaldehyde, and eill not sharpen the smoking flavor of the cigarette.;SOLUTION: This cigarette filter comprises a cigarette filter material, formed from an amino-modified silica gel prepared by introducing aminoacylsilyl groups in a total nitrogen content of 0.20 to 1.00 wt.% to base silica gel, having an average pore diameter of 5 to 350 nm. The cigarette filter material can efficiently and selectively remove formaldehyde, even though the introduced quantity of the aminoacylsilica gel is small. A cigarette filter produced, by disposing the cigarette filter material in a middle portion whose both end portions are formed of filter rods, can hold nicotine and tar at retention rates of 75% or higher and can simultaneously lower the formaldehyde retention rate to 40% or lower, and will not increase the ventilation resistance.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
