PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phased array antenna apparatus which attains the reduction of a quantization lobe easily and at low cost.;SOLUTION: To discrete phase shift amounts for antenna elements #1-#m calculated based on scan angle information, phase values randomly generated independently thereof are imparted. Thus, for periodic regularity of a quantization error that may occur in an existent quantization phase shifter, the phenomenon can be distorted. As a result, a quantization lobe can be reduced. Namely, without increasing the number of bits of the quantization phase shifter and also without the need to apply a consideration in design to an antenna structure, it is possible to effectively deal with the quantization lobe only with consideration in software design.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
