PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emulsion composition containing a carotenoid, having small particle diameter of emulsified particles and excellent in storage stability and to provide a method for producing the emulsion composition and to provide a food and a cosmetic each containing the emulsion composition. PSOLUTION: The carotenoid-containing emulsion composition comprises carotenoid, wherein the composition further comprises: at least one water-soluble emulsifier in an aqueous phase; and tocopherol and lecithin in an oil phase. In the emulsion composition, it is preferable that HLB of the water-soluble emulsifier is 10 and contents of the carotenoid and the lecithin to the composition are each 0.1-10 mass% and 0.1-10 mass% and ratio of the tocopherol amount to the carotenoid amount is 0.1-5. It is preferable that the emulsion composition further contains glycerol and the content of the glycerol to the composition is 10-60 mass%.
