PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crown shape cage for a ball bearing, which is prevented from the generation of cracks on it, and the generation of noises due to the vibrations of the retainer even when a moment load has been applied to the ball bearing, and further to provide the ball bearing.;SOLUTION: The crown shape cage for the ball bearing comprises: an annular shape main portion having pockets arranged thereon circumferentially at equal intervals so as to receive the rolling elements; and pawl portions formed circumferentially on both end edges of the pockets so as to project axially from the main portion. The root portions of the pawl portions to be connected to the main portion are arranged vertically above the centers of curvature of the inner peripheral surfaces of the pockets. The crown shape retainer for the ball bearing satisfies the following relations, 0SH/DW≤0.1, where SH shows a length from the centers of curvature of the inner peripheral surfaces of the pockets to the root portions of the pawl portions, and DW shows the outside diameters of the rolling elements to be received in the pockets.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
