PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a failure determining device for atmospheric pressure detecting means, rationalizing failure diagnosis of the atmospheric pressure detecting means and improving the precision of the diagnosis.;SOLUTION: The failure determining device comprises an atmospheric pressure sensor 23 for detecting atmospheric pressure BP of air to be sucked into an engine 1, condition determining means A1 for determining that failure determining conditions are established when operation times Dn of continuous operation for a certain period since key-on start exceeds preset times Dα, where one time means continuous operation for the certain period since key-on start of the engine 1, and failure determining means A2 for determining the failure of the atmospheric pressure sensor 23 when a quantity of change ΔPn of the atmospheric pressure BP in the process of the preset times Dα is a preset quantity ΔPα or less and the conditions of the condition determining means A1 are established.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
