Malodorous air is sucked directly from the toilet bowl by a centrifugal fan through a suitably shaped flowing channel and a malodor closing diaphragm valve that opens due to pressure drop caused by the operation of the fan. The sucked air is discharged into a sewer through an opening in the wall of a siphon. A floating valve with a density less than that of water is placed in the opening in the wall of the siphon and automatically closes when water flows out, hindering backflow of water and solid materials towards the fan.
