HERBAL COMPOSITION FOR TREATMENT OF INFECTIONS CAUSED BY DERMATOPHYTES

The present invention relates to a novel herbal composition comprising extract of roots of Murraya koenigii for treatment of infections caused by dermatophytes, particularly tinea infections, and method of manufacture of said composition. The said herbal composition comprises 2-methoxy-3-methyl-9H-carbazole (compound 1) as bioactive ingredient. Invention also discloses methods for topical application of the said herbal composition for the treatment of infections caused by dermatophytes. Optionally the said extract may be used in combination with other bioactive substances to obtain a synergistic effect.
