METHOD OF PROVIDING A PHOSPHORESCENT COATING SYSTEM THROUGH WET-ON-WET APPLICATION AND A PHOSPHORESCENT COATING SYSTEM THEREOF

A phosphorescent coating system and a method of providing the coating systemon a substrate are disclosed. The method includes applying a color-providingcomposition, such as a pigmented basecoat composition, and applying aclearcoat composition. After application and cure, the color-providingcomposition forms a color-providing film layer, and the clearcoat compositionforms a clearcoat film layer. The color-providing composition and theclearcoat composition are cross-linkable. Either one, or both, of the color-providing composition and the clearcoat composition include phosphorescentpigment. The color-providing composition is applied to the substrate to forman uncured film layer of the color-providing composition. Next, the clearcoatcomposition is applied wet-on-wet to the uncured film layer of the color-providing composition such that an uncured film layer of the clearcoatcomposition is formed on the uncured film layer of the color-providingcomposition.
