A method, apparatus, remote accessory and authentication server are providedforfacilitating operations such as an authenticated test of life safety equipmenthaving componentsincluding a control panel and sensors. The life safety equipment requirestesting according to afire code. An access procedure is conducted to identify equipment and testingrequirements andto establish a communication session between the equipment and anauthentication server duringan authenticated test. Another access procedure is conducted to provide accessfor a remotedevice for facilitating the authenticated test and to establish acommunication session betweenthe remote device and an alarm system or authentication server, or the like.Informationassociated with an impending activation of one of the sensors is received fromthe remote deviceand information associated with the sensor, when activated, is reported ifdetected by the alarmsystem, to the authentication server and the reported activation informationis forwarded to theremote device. Authentication information associated with the activated sensorwhether or notdetected is received from the remote device and an authenticated report isforwarded to theremote device when all of the alarm condition sensors are tested according totest procedures.
