The invention relates to the use of at least one leguminous starch derivative having a predetermined molecular mass in weight and a predetermined sol/gel transition temperature for preparing a composition for laying paper or flat carton. The invention also relates to the leguminous starch derivative and to laying compositions prepared from the same, in particular with high dried materials.
