The system has a sensor for detecting electromagnetic radiation and for producing image sequences, a memory unit and a analysis unit. The units are so implemented, that a statistical model of the dynamic components of the setting in detection area of the sensor or a statistical model of the the images of an object-type to be detected in the image sequence is compiled and an image of the image sequence is used for the analysis. An independent claim is also included for a method for automatic counting of objects on moving or moved subsurface.
