The module has an electrical power steering motor (10) coupled to a steering pinion (8) by a mechanical reducer with an auger (11) and a worm wheel (12). Hub of the wheel is rotatably connected to the pinion. A ball bearing (13) is situated at an inner end of the pinion (8), and a ball bearing (18) is situated at an outer end of the pinion. A retaining ring (19) is mounted on the pinion against the hub opposite to the bearing (13), while a preload screw (21) is fixed against the bearing (18) and axially connected to the pinion, so as to limit axial internal clearance of the bearings.
