PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for treating a Shochu lees waste liquid with reduced energy consumption, without the need for large-scale equipment and/or power source. PSOLUTION: The apparatus for treating a Shochu lees waste liquid includes an agitation tank 2 where bran such as rice bran or other grain bran is mixed into a barley Shochu lees waste liquid followed by agitation; a thickener 3 so designed that airflow is applied to the resultant Shochu lees waste liquid, while allowing the Shochu lees waste liquid to flow down along the respective surfaces of plate materials 33 arranged vertically, in parallel with evaporation of the water in the waste liquid to effect thickening; and a dryer 4, which is equipped with a plurality of shallow trays 5 to be cast with the thus thickened Shochu lees waste liquid, arranged in a multilayered fashion with spacings, and functions to evaporate the waste liquid to dryness by ventilation through the spacings to form a sheet-like solid on the trays 5.
