PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance efficiency in learning English words while accurately recognizing the result of learning by using a portable terminal.;SOLUTION: An English word learning support system for learning English words using a portable terminal 10 includes a server 1 connected with the portable terminal 10 via a network 2. The server 1 comprises: a word database 3 storing English words to be learned; a narrowing means 4 deducing the field and trend of English words to be learned in accordance with target demand from a user and narrowing down the acquisition range of English words to be learned by the user from the word database 3; and a learning state database 5 storing each user's word acquisition state in the acquisition range of English words narrowed down by the narrowing means 4.
