PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To analyze both sides of a granular material and to particularly improve an accuracy of detecting cracking by synthesizing a plurality of oblique ray transmission signals obtained by sequentially irradiating the material from a light source to one, and converting it into optical information regarding the cracking of the material. ;SOLUTION: An imaging means 2 made of a camera of a granular material quality level measuring apparatus 1 acquires an image by a transmitted light of the material and an image by a reflected light from the material, and images a plurality of sample granular materials. Image signals of the materials obtained by imaging are input to an image processing means 3, converted into digital signals by an A-D converter 3a, then converted into optical information regarding a quality level of the material, stored in a memory 3c, and sent to a processing means 4. The means 4 discriminates the quality level of the material based on the input optical information, simultaneously outputs number of grains and a ratio of the numbers of grains based on the sample images and the quality level of the material, prints it by a printer 5 and displays it on a display 6.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
