PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting and identifying microorganisms by using an oxygen-quenchable phosphorescent compound or an arborescent polymer derivative of the oxygen-quenchable phosphorescent compound.;SOLUTION: The method for detecting and identifying microorganisms is (1) to prepare a culture medium comprising a soluble oxygen-quenchable phosphorescent compound, (2) to inoculate the culture medium with a substrate having one or more microorganisms or a substrate suspected of being associated with the same and (3) to bring the phosphorescent compound to phosphoresce and observe quenching of oxygen in the culture medium of the compound.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
