PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress error due to movement of one's own ship while the transmitted wave reflects on a target in a sonar and then reaches a detection section of the own ship.;SOLUTION: This automatic tracking scanning sonar comprises a ship position-azimuth calculation section that has a memory for holding time-series data of indication values of a GPS and a compass and can estimate the latitude, longitude, and bow azimuth of the own ship at optional past time, and a target location calculation section for calculating the latitude, longitude, and depth of water at the time when the reflected wave from the target is received by the own ship.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
