PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish an efficient and high-selective dechlorination (dehalogenation) process for aromatic chlorides (halides), particularly for aromatic polychlorides (polyhalides).;SOLUTION: The objective dechlorination process is characteristically carried out by allowing an aromatic chloride to react with R3SiH (R is a lower alkyl and/or phenyl) in the presence of a catalyst comprising at least one selected from [1,2-bis-(diphenylphosphino)ethane]Ni(II)X2 (X is Cl or Br), [1,2- bis-(dimethylphosphino)ethane]Ni(II)X2 (X is Cl or Br) and [1,1'- bis-(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene]Ni(II)X2 (X is Cl or Br) and PPh3 and at least one of cocatalyst selected from Zn, PdCl2, CoCl2, FeCl3, ZnCl2, RhCl(PPh3)3, RuCl2(PPh3)3 and CoCl(PPh3)3.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
