PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure surface strain of a rubber product simply and precisely. PSOLUTION: The measurement sheet for surface strain is cut into a proper size and stuck onto a surface of a side wall 10sw of a tire 10 an objective product for measurement. The grating on the surface strain measurement sheet 1 is colored and the grating on the surface strain measurement sheet 1 is transferred on a recording medium 5SB1/SBsuch as a sheet of paper, or a transparent OHP sheet, thus the grating pattern 1iSB1/SBbefore a deformation of side wall 10sw is obtained, then a load P is imparted to the tire 10 so as to deform the surface of the side wall 10sw, and the grating pattern 1iSB2/SBafter deformation of the side wall 10sw is obtained. the grating patterns 1iSB1/SBand 1iSB2/SBof the side walls 10sw before and after the deformation are obtained. From the grating patterns 1iSB1/SBand 1iSB2/SB, the coordinates of the grating are obtained, thereby the surface strain of the object is calculated based on the coordinates.
