An object of the present invention is to provide a prophylacticor ameliorative agent for insulin resistance and/or obesity based on anew concept, and a screening method therefor.The present inventors found that GIP causes insulin resistance andobesity by a new mechanism, and obtained a new concept that a GIP functioninhibitory compound exhibits the ameliorative effect of insulin resistanceand anti-obesity effect, thereby completing the present invention. Thatis, the present invention is aprophylactic or ameliorative agent for insulinresistance and/or obesity, having a GIP function inhibitory compound asan active ingredient, and a screening method for a prophylactic orameliorative agent for insulin resistance and/or obesity, characterizedby selecting a GIP function inhibitory conpound.
