The invention relates to a novel subtilisin-type alkaline protease from Bacillus gibsonii and to sufficiently related proteins and the derivatives thereof. The invention also relates to washing and cleaning agents comprising the novel subtilisin-type alkaline protease, to the sufficiently related proteins and the derivatives thereof, to corresponding washing and cleaning methods and to their use in washing and cleaning agents and to other possible technical uses.
