A fermented feed additive using medicinal herbs and a preparation method thereof are provided to improve a digestive system and immunity of domestic animals. A method for preparing a fermented feed additive comprises the following steps of: stirring 30-60wt% of medicinal herbs, 40-70wt% of supplementary material and 2-7wt% of molasses and sterilizing them at 65-75°C for 30-60 minutes; inoculating 2-7 parts of four kinds of microorganisms when the sterilized mixture becomes 25~32°C and fermenting them for 3 days; and drying the fermented mixture at 40°C or less until the mixture contains the moisture of 12% or less and pulverizing them to a size of 0.3mm. The medicinal herbs contain 1.5wt% of ginseng, 3-10wt% of Poria cocos, 1-7wt% of Radix Rehmanniae Preparata, 5-15wt% of Cnidii Rhizoma, 5-15wt% of Atractylodis Rhizoma, 5-15wt% of Paeoniae Radix, 15-30wt% of Glycyrrhizae Radix, 5-15wt% of Angelicae Radix, 5-15wt% of Eucommiae Cortex and 15-30wt% of Polygalae Radix. The microorganism represents Lactobacillus acidopilus, Bacillus subtilis, Aspergillus niger and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The content of the feed additive is 0.01-5.0 parts on a basis of 100 parts of common poultry feed. The content of the feed additive is 0.01-7.0 parts on a basis of 100 parts of common swine feed.
