ESG DISCOVERY APPARATUS AND METHOD IN CBMS

A method and a device for discovering an ESG(Electronic Service Guide) in a CBMS(Convergence Broadcasting And Mobile Service) system are provided to quickly and easily obtain the ESG without searching information included in all ESG bootstraps and obtaining/searching the ESG. A subscription manager(3709) selects an available IP(Internet Protocol) platform by obtaining the PSI(Program Service Information)/SI(Service Information). The subscription manager detects all available ESGs from an ESG discovery provider descriptor and an ESG access descriptor, which are included in the ESG bootstrap. The subscription manager checks an IPDC(IP Data Caster) operator for the detected available ESG and supports an available KMS(Key Management System) of the ESG. When the available IPDC operator is supported, the subscription manager selects one IPDC operator. A contents use manager accesses and buys a service by selecting and accessing one ESG having the selected IPDC operator.
