Provided are a functional beverage containing whey protein hydrolysate and/or probiotic lactic acid bacteria useful for producing physiologically active peptides and a preparing method thereof. A functional beverage contains whey protein hydrolysate showing an antioxidant effect as an active ingredient. The final protein content of the whey protein hydrolysate is controlled to 1.0% or less. The hydrolysis degree of the whey protein hydrolysate is controlled to 3-4%. The functional beverage includes one or more materials selected among probiotic lactic acid bacteria, sugar, citric acid, flavor or pigment. The functional beverage is composed of 20.8% of whey protein hydrolysate, 0.1% of probiotic lactic acid bacteria, 77.50% of sugar, 1.15% of citric acid, 0.28% of flavor and 0.28% of pigment. The whey protein hydrolysate is obtained by treating whey protein concentrate with protease. The whey protein concentrate contains 65-85% of protein. The protease is selected from the group consisting of neutrase, trypsin, flavourzyme, alcalase and protamax.
