IMPROVED FLAMMABLE GAS DETECTION SYSTEM FOR BALLAST TANKS OF DOUBLE HULL TANKERS

PURPOSE: A method for detecting gas in a ballast tank of a dual hull carrier is provided to detect a gas leakage in the tank by installing a direct detector. CONSTITUTION: The leaked inflammable gas is detected by a point gas detector(30) installed in a ballast tank. A detection gas value of the detected inflammable gas is compared with a limit value. The limit value includes a preset alarm limit value or emergency stop limit value. The detection gas value is detected by one gas detector(20) or more in a ballast tank(10). An alarm is generated and an extractor fan is operated if the sense gas value exceeds the alarm limit value. If the sense gas value exceeds the preset emergency limit value, an emergency stop system is operated.
