Improved maintenance method for ballast tanks gas detectors in double hull tankers

PURPOSE: A device and a method for sensing the gas of a ballast tank of a dual hull carrier are provided to prevent a foreign material from being inputted to a collection line by installing a foreign material prevention filter. CONSTITUTION: The gas inside a ballast tank is collected by a gas collector(S100). The collected gas is transferred to a gas analyzer and the analyzed value is transmitted to a controller(S200). A gas leakage is determined by comparing the leakage gas value with the preset value(S300). If inflammable gas is sensed, the inert gas is supplied to a ballast tank through an inert gas line(S400). A collection line is blown by opening a valve of the inert gas line and closing the valve of the collection line(S500).
