The method involves applying dry electrically conductive powder on an electrode mass, where the dry electrically conductive powder is applied by a roller system on a coated plastic foil and subsequently on the electrode mass. The coated plastic foil is brought in direct contact with the supplied electrode mass in such a manner that an electrically conductive intermediate layer of the dry electrically conductive powder is applied on the electrode mass. An electrode mass-powder compound is applied on a collector foil and hot sealed in a laminating unit. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for manufacturing ribbon shaped electrodes for rechargeable battery cells (2) a ribbon shaped electrode for rechargeable battery cells.
