The method involves converting inverter output voltages (U1) into symmetrical voltages (U1s) with same amplitude. Unbalances are observed by generating difference values from the amplitudes of voltages (U1s) and at inverter output. Symmetrical control signals (U1St-s) are generated from the voltages (U1s) under the observance of a preset desired value for the amplitudes of voltages (U1s). Asymmetrical control signals (U1St-un) are generated by the difference values under the observance of desired value. The control signals are added to common control signals that are delivered to an actuator. An independent claim is also included for a device for regulating the output voltages of an inverter for a four-wire main.
