The method involves reducing dynamic charging power of the electrical machine for charging of the energy storage in dependence of vehicle condition parameter and a distance between target charge and actual charge. The threshold value of the target charge is smaller than seven. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling operation of a hybrid vehicle.
