The method involves storing electrical energy in energy storage (19), and using the energy for driving a vehicle during driving operation. Power take-off functions of an internal combustion engine (2) and an electrical machine (3) of a hybrid drive train (1) are controlled or regulated by a control unit (10). Charging condition of the energy storage is predictively controlled or regulated based on a lying-ahead route, recuperable electrical energy prognosticated on the route and/or prognosticating energy requirement of power take-off functions of the internal combustion engine. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling a hybrid drive train of a vehicle.
