The exhaust gas after-treatment system (10) has a particle filter (14) and a nitrogen oxide storage catalyst (12). The nitrogen oxide storage catalyst is formed in a high temperature-stable manner. The nitrogen oxide storage catalyst is upstream to the particle filter. Another nitrogen oxide storage catalyst is formed, particularly in a low-temperature-active manner, which is downstream to the particle filter. An independent claim is also included for a method for treating exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine.
