The vehicle axle has an electric motor (2) provided for each wheel (1), and forming a part of a wheel suspension such as double wishbone axle-wheel suspension or multi-link wheel suspension. The electric motor is arranged vertically between an upper double wishbone (3) and a lower double wishbone (4) for the double wishbone wheel suspension. The motor is connected with the upper double wishbone by a damping element (5) i.e. spring. An angle drive is provided as a transmission for transmitting motor torque to the wheels.
