The method involves selecting gears within ranges, in which a driver through his driving behavior does not directly influence the switching strategy, based on optimum efficiency targets. The gear selection is performed based on a characteristic diagram of transmission efficiency as function of gear, temperature, load and/or speed. One gear is selected during motor braking in high speed, and is again left, when high prioritized requirements are required. A long roller is identified by Global Positioning System (GPS)based on route requirements.
