The device has a steering handle for predetermining a steering angle (42) of a steering wheel of a towing vehicle (10). A controlling unit (53) adjusts a stabilization steering angle (52) at a rear axis of the towing vehicle depending on the predetermined steering angle. A computation unit (48) computes a drawbar angle (40) between a longitudinal axis (38) of a trailer/semi-trailer (12) and a longitudinal axis (36) of the towing vehicle based on steering of the steering wheel. A determination unit comprising a measuring device (46) determines an actual drawbar angle (44). An independent claim is also included for a method for stabilizing a reverse movement of a towing vehicle of a trailer or a semi-trailer.
