A saddlebag mounting system for use with a motorcycle includes a frame having a mounting position for connecting a footrest to the motorcycle. The saddlebag mounting system includes a first bracket configured for secure attachment to the mounting position, a second bracket removably connected to the first bracket, and a saddlebag connected to the second bracket, such that in a solution the second bracket from the first bracket, the saddlebag and the second bracket are released from the motorcycle and the first bracket remains attached to the frame.
