The method involves determining reference characteristics of a vehicle (1). A yaw moment (M) of the vehicle is produced in such a manner that actual characteristics of the vehicle is approximated to the reference characteristics that includes a reference yaw rate and/or a reference slip angle of the vehicle. The yaw moment is produced by deceleration of a right rear wheel (3) and a left rear wheel (6) of the vehicle. A wheel slip of the wheels is limited to a maximum value during the deceleration of the wheels. A braking force (F) of the wheels is increased during deceleration of the wheels.
