The device (15) has two braking mechanisms (13, 14) comprising braking actuation sections (22, 23), which are actuated by a driver. Inlet-outlet valves such as pressure reducing valves (30f, 30r) and downstream bypass valves (32f, 32r) are provided in an opened state, and the device determines whether the sections are provided in an operating state or non-operating state. The device performs a connection control for moving the valves into a closed state, when the determination of the sections is made. State of the sections is changed from the operating state into the non-operating state. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a vehicle braking device.
