PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set both of a pressing force of a heater and a melting temperature of a binding band at a high level when the binding bands are adhered to each other, and prevent the remains of odds and ends of the binding band and the damage or the like of sheets of paper when the binding band is taken out from the sheets. ;SOLUTION: A large-band handling apparatus is provided with a longitudinal and cutting mechanism 30 for cutting a large band, with which a bundle T of sheets of paper placed at a cutting position is bound in double winding, i.e., a longitudinal band K1. The longitudinal band cutting mechanism 30 has a cutter 32 which is made to work at the cutting position of the longitudinal band K1, and a pair of paste stripping claws 41, 42 which are provided in the position pinching the cutter 32 and are to be inserted between the longitudinal band K1 and a bundle of the sheets at a position close to the cutting position of the longitudinal band K1. When a link arm 33 is swung, the longitudinal band K1 is cut by the cuter 32 and, at the same time, the cut portion of the longitudinal band K1 is stripped off from the sheets.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
