A thermal engine that comprises a rotary element. A plurality of drive elements are arranged in the rotary element. Each drive has a plurality of piston/cylinder arranged around a common central expansion space. Piston heads of the pistons abut on a power transmission surface of the rotary element in order to drive the same.
