The present invention discloses a system and method for an online time stamped fault detection of the cobble in rolling mills, more particularly, the present invention relates to a merchant mill protecting system wherein wrecked (cobbled) elongated metallic material undergoing rolling (e.g. bars or rods) are located immediately without forming any damage to the production line and therefore can be easily-removed.
