PURPOSE: A Hordeum vulgare-derived Na+/H+ antiporter (HvNHX) gene is provided to enhance salt tolerance of plant and cells and develop plant body which is able to cultivate in reclaimed land of high salt content. CONSTITUTION: A Hordeum vulgare-derived Na+/H+ antiporter (HvNHX) gene comprises a sequence A yeast expression recombinant vector pMG515 contains HvNHX1 gene. A plant expression recombinant vector 6pMG-HvNHX1 contains HvNHX1 gene. A method for preparing salt tolerant transgenic plant comprises: a step of transforming plant cells with a recombinant vector 6pMG-HvNHX1; and a step of redifferentiating plant cells to transgenic plant. The plant is monocotyledon plant including rice plant.
