The invention relates to a running gear for a semi-trailer in which the rear axle (W1) comprises, on each of its sides, right and left, a support (2) connected to the end (10) of a cross member (1) and a wheel mounted so that it can rotate on this support (2) about an axis (Y), the support (2) being itself mounted so that it can pivot with respect to the cross member (1) by means of a pivot connection (4), and each wheel being thus subjected to a pivoting moment if the trailer takes a bend. According to the invention, each wheel of this axle is urged by a preloaded elastic means (5) towards an angular position in which it runs in a straight line, and is allowed to pivot only if a torque of a value higher than a threshold value is applied to this wheel.
