The drive for the elevator car and its counterweight is guided on a pair of vertical guide rails (4). The drive is a gearless traction drive (8) with a stationary stator and outer, rotating and internally fitted with permanent magnets, blowing pipe. The traction drive (8) is formed as a unit, with its propellant tube to the drive ropes hanging and otherwise detached arranged on a guide frame (11). The guide frame (11) between the vertical guide rails (4) out, which are connected at the top with a bridge on which depend the pulleys. It contains the drive control and the lift control. The traction drive (8) and the guide frame (11) together form as it were a locomotive (drive module for a train), which pulls the hanging below, also at the two vertical guide rails (4) run frame (13), to be determined for receiving a required, counterweight of weight modules used.
