The invention relates to a method and a device for synchronizing the recordings of cameras. For this purpose, a duplex-capable network is provided. Within the network, there are one or more hardware-based synchronization modules having a logical channel of a first type, the synchronization module (s) sending image-sensing signals over the logical channel that control the imaging timing of image sensors, the image-sensing signals being received by imaging devices, and wherein the imaging devices are responsive each receiving an image on receipt of an image pickup signal, and wherein the image data is subsequently sent by the image pickup devices via a logical channel of a second type via the network.
