The tool has an actuation shaft provided with an adjustment section, where the section exhibits a cross-sectional shape deviating from a round shape. The section is brought in engagement with contact surfaces provided at gear wheels (3-5) such that a rotary actuation of the tool adjusts teeth profiles. The section is formed in cross sections in an oval shape and exhibits a side, whose curvature radius differs from the curvature radius of another side. An actuation handle exhibits a drilling for accommodation of a safety loop that detachably connects the gear wheels with the tool. An independent claim is also included for a method for aligned adjustment of teeth edges of two gear wheels.
